A Proud Connection to the D’Escousse Waterfront

Lennox Passage Yacht Club has a proud connection to the D’Escousse waterfront, Isle Madame, and the boating community of Cape Breton.

The club was formed by local residents who recognized the importance of preserving access to the harbour and supporting a place where boaters, members, visitors, and the community could gather.

Today, LPYC continues that tradition as a welcoming yacht club, community gathering place, and stop for boaters exploring Lennox Passage and the Bras d’Or Lakes region.

Preserving the D’Escousse Waterfront

The D’Escousse waterfront has long been an important part of life on Isle Madame.

For generations, the harbour has connected the community to fishing, boating, travel, trade, and recreation. Protecting access to the waterfront has always been important to local residents and to the future of the community.

Lennox Passage Yacht Club grew from that shared commitment to preserving and supporting the waterfront.

The Founding of LPYC

Lennox Passage Yacht Club was formed in 1980 by a group of local residents who wanted to help save and preserve the D’Escousse wharf.

What began as a local effort by concerned citizens became the foundation for a yacht club that would support boating access, community activity, and visiting boaters for years to come.

The club’s early members worked to create a place where people could gather, dock, launch, and enjoy the harbour.

Growth of the Club

Over time, LPYC grew from a local waterfront initiative into a club with members and visitors from near and far.

The club became a welcoming stop for boaters travelling along the south coast of Cape Breton, visiting Isle Madame, or making their way toward the Bras d’Or Lakes.

As the club grew, so did its role in supporting visiting boaters, local members, and community events.

LPYC Today

Today, Lennox Passage Yacht Club continues to serve members, visiting boaters, and the local community.

The club offers dockage, moorings, a launch ramp, clubhouse access, showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, and a welcoming harbour setting in D’Escousse.

LPYC remains connected to its original purpose: preserving access to the waterfront and supporting a strong boating and community presence on Isle Madame.

Looking Ahead

The future of LPYC depends on the continued support of members, volunteers, visitors, and the community.

By maintaining the club, welcoming boaters, hosting events, and supporting the D’Escousse waterfront, LPYC helps keep the harbour active for future generations.

We are proud of the club’s history and look forward to continuing its role in the life of the community.
